The Nexstar 8 GPS is mounted on a modified 1985 c11/c14 sand cast wedge and c11/c14 locked leg tripod for astrophotography. Vibrations damp out in less than 1.5 seconds. With only the NS8, vibrations died down in less than 1/2 second. The currently available heavy duty wedge weighs 17 pounds while this one is 27 pounds. This heavier mass with fewer connecting parts ensures the telescope will be very stable. Only the Onyx 80EDF or c90 will be mounted for guiding or photography.
